Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required

And although this is one of the easiest to fly Extra models yet, it's not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or “next step after a trainer” model for low-time pilots. Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required

Learn to Fly Successfully with SAFE^® Technology

If this is your first RC airplane, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents over-control and crashes. It also offers multiple flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities as your skills progress at the flip of a switch:

Beginner Mode

In this flight mode, the airplane has pitch (up/down) and bank (left/right) angle limits that prevent over-control which could lead to a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released, the airplane automatically returns to level flight allowing you to relax and enjoy simply 'steering' the airplane through the sky. Best of all, takeoffs are as simple as giving full throttle and letting the airplane fly off a suitable surface, or by giving it a quick hand launch over surfaces such as grass, and landings are as easy as lowering the throttle and letting it glide to a landing on its own.

Intermediate Mode

This flight mode allows more freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents significant over-control and the airplane does not return to level flight on its own. This allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance.

Experienced Mode

In this flight mode there are no pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more.

Panic Recovery

If you lose control of the airplane in the Intermediate or Experienced flight modes, simply activate the Panic Recovery mode with the push of a button and release the control sticks. SAFE technology will automatically return the airplane to level flight.

Higher Performance

The factory-installed brushless power system features a 2S and 3S-compatible outrunner motor. Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required

Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble and/or set up and fly similar class models. And although this is the easiest-to-fly WACO model yet, it’s not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or “next step after a trainer” model for low-time RC pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly higher performance ultra-micro models like the various UMX Timber models, or larger models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, the Commander mPd 1.4m, Timber 1.5m models, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the UMX WACO.

Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required

The HobbyZone Apprentice STOL S 700mm has been scaled down from some of the most popular trainer aircraft ever designed to make learning to fly radio-controlled (RC) airplanes easy and fun! Learn to Fly Successfully with SAFE® Technology

If this is your first RC airplane, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents over-control and crashing while also offering multiple flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities as your skills progress:

Beginner Mode

Pitch and bank angle limits prevent over-control that can result in a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released the airplane returns to level flight on its own. Best of all takeoffs are as simple as giving full throttle and letting the airplane fly off the ground or by giving it a quick hand launch.

Intermediate Mode

More freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents over-control and does not return to level flight on its own. This mode allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance. Beginner mode automatically activates and returns the airplane to level flight when the airplane descends below approximately 30 feet above ground level and the sticks are released.

Experienced Mode

No pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Recovery Mode can be activated by switching to Beginner Mode and releasing the sticks.

Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. And although this BNF Basic version is equipped with AS3X and optional-use SAFE Select that makes it easier to fly than PNP versions, it's not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots, a "next step after a trainer" model for low-time RC pilots, or first EDF (Electric Ducted Fan)/jet model for intermediate pilots. Besides the careful attention to every outline, scale detail includes the look of fabric covered construction, plus detents highlighting where panels and hatches are found on the full-size. The characteristic wedge-shape fuselage is crowned with a scale spinner in a shape often found on high-powered versions of the Pitts bipe while the cockpit area is neatly appointed with an enclosed canopy and painted pilot figure. Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required

Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! And if you don’t want to enable the SAFE Select features, bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X will be active.
