Smart Battery Technology

When connected to a Spektrum Smart charger, the unique parameters and health of your Smart LiPo battery are uploaded from the Smart memory microchip integrated into the battery. Through the charger, you can set and record preferred settings, such as charge rates and self-discharge options, so that all you have to do to charge the pack is press the "start" button. Smart technology will take care of the rest. This Smart LiPo battery is factory-assembled with the next-generation IC2™ output connector that utilizes a data transfer wire to relay saved information to your Smart Chargers.

 

Data Rich

An integrated microchip allows each Smart Battery to save vital information such as battery brand, chemistry, cell count, capacity, number of charging cycles, number of discharges, C rating, battery temperature, and internal resistance. Smart Discharge

LiPo batteries with Spektrum Smart™ technology practically take care of themselves.  Our SRD-V3 packs are an evolution of our popular SRD-V2 line of packs.  The cell design and formulation has been improved by using the latest in advanced materials which results is less voltage drop under high amp loads.  Made with 100% LCO we believe these to be the most powerful cells on the market to date.

A bigger/heavier pack will have less voltage drop assuming it’s made with the same cells.   Most companies offering drag and speed run packs are just using cells that factories are already using for other applications, and they achieve the voltage drop desired by adding cells in parallel.  SMC works directly with the factories engineer to design cells at a proper size/weight to optimize voltage drop under load.   The size of a cell can improve the voltage drop under the highest amp loads. 

To keep the weight as low as possible these are regular softcase packs with a top and bottom G10 protection plate.  To lower the resistance these are built with 8AWG wires and come with no connectors.  We do offer a selection of connectors that can fit the 8AWG wires.

For example, Spektrum^™ Smart G2 technology makes it much easier to balance charge your LiPo batteries. Balancing information travels through the unique data wire of each Smart G2 battery's innovative IC3^® or IC5^® connector. As a result, only a single connection is needed — no separate balance lead is required.

Smart G2 batteries come from the factory programmed to discharge automatically to a safe storage voltage of 3.90V after 72 hours of inactivity. The benefits include longer battery life, better performance over the life of the pack, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your Smart battery is maintenance-free. You can change the battery's Auto Storage settings based on your own preferences. G2 batteries also offer a storage discharge rate that's three times faster than the previous G1 Smart batteries.

Smart G2 30C soft-case LiPo packs also include thicker internal metal side plates. These plates improve heat dissipation and provide more protection for the cells against punctures during rough landings or in similar impact-prone situations.

As with other Smart batteries, you'll never have to set your own charging preferences for a Spektrum^™ Smart G2 battery until you want to.
